Bi-Annual Raven Trust Donation

Thank you again to everyone who has purchased a donation tee from our Sept 30, 2022 campaign. Your purchases from January until July 13th has allowed us to donate $300 more to Raven Trust which couldn’t be possible without you.

Check out www.raventrust.com to see where your donation is going.

We have very limited t-shirts left which may or may not sell and by the end of this year, whatever doesn’t sell will be donated to Distro Disco, an organization that collects and distributes clothing and necessities to the local houseless community.

Hope you all are having a great summer and taking care.

Raven Trust Fundraiser Update

Thank you to all who purchased a shirt for our fundraiser for Raven Trust and since our fundraiser started on Sept. 30, 2022 with our first leg of fundraiser being until the end of 2022, we were able to raise and donate $1071! We have limited sizes left, mostly in unisex large. We’ll be donating whatever other funds we’ve accumulated since the beginning of the year, this spring.

Here’s a reminder of what your donation went towards supporting, from the Raven Trust website:

Join us in our mission to provide access to justice for Indigenous Nations.

Supporting the assertion of the inherent and constitutionally-protected rights of Indigenous Peoples is a powerful pathway towards reconciliation and environmental justice. Working together we’ve raised millions of dollars to back some of the most groundbreaking legal challenges of our time.”

Accountability: Flash Day Fundraiser for UNYA

Receipts for accountability from a couple of our Fundraisers for UNYA this past year.

Back in July we had a fundraiser flash event following our name change to Pacific Rose Tattoo that had an amazing turn out. The energy was high and everyone was in a great mood and even better, with our fundraising goal of 20% of gross proceeds going to UNYA (Urban Native Youth), we were able to donate $1155 thanks to all of you who came out and got tattooed or lasered that day.
Below are photos of the donation receipts for accountability purposes. The reason why there are two separate receipts and the donation amount divided is because UNYA has SO MANY incredible programs that they let you choose from for your donation, we had a hard time choosing just one so we split the donation to support both a healing program and an educational program.

We’re piggy backing this post with a receipt from our previous long running t-shirt fundraiser, again for UNYA. We still have some of those shirts left and available in shop.

Tomorrow we launch our new fundraiser: We will have 80 new t-shirts with a new design at $30 each and 100% of net proceeds will go to Raven Trust once we sell out of shirts or by next Truth and Reconciliation Day. More details to come at time of fundraiser launch.

Why the Name Change?

From Gastown Tattoo Parlour to Pacific Rose Tattoo. Same business, same values, just a different name. Read more to find out why.

When we first chose the name Gastown Tattoo Parlour we thought it simple, easy to remember and locate. As time has gone on and the history of Gassy Jack (whom the neighbourhood of Gastown is named after) with regards to his relations with an under-age girl from Squamish Nation has been brought to light, it made us reconsider how important our ties are to a name embedded in problematic colonial history and not a name belonging to any of our own.
With Indigenous issues and the needs of our local downtown east-side neighbours being at the heart of our community service, continuing on with a name that could potentially alienate the communities we hold dear just didn’t sit right with us.
We are happy to announce that our shop will from now on be known as Pacific Rose Tattoo. Thank you to our community and clients for your past and continued support as we move forward with open hearts towards the future as Pacific Rose Tattoo, where everyone is welcome so long as they are welcoming to everyone.

Some artists or laser technicians may ask that their clients still wear a mask during their appointment and we ask that clients respect this. Thank you for your compassion.
